Responsibilities

  • What You'll Do

  • Responsible for operating and maintaining voice and data related unified communications systems and IT tasks to ensure goals are accomplished for the Maxwell BOS contract. May be assigned a trainer role within the scope of authority.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews work to ensure production and accuracy.

  • Reviews Communications Service Agreement (CSA) requirements for USAF compliance.

  • Develops and submits reports to meet functional, contractual and compliance requirement.

  • Conduct special communications management studies (traffic analysis, Fill Rate) as required.

  • Works to install, test, program, maintain, and inspect UC and traditional voice systems and associated sub-systems (circuits, trunks, interface units, channel banks, alarm, and other associated equipment).

  • Manages, programs and operates UC, voicemail (V/M) and converged network platforms.

  • Manages power system(s) platforms in support of Unified Communications Systems.

  • Performs diagnostics, isolation and corrective action on UC and other sub-systems to resolve outages.

  • Coordinates with commercial agencies on necessary circuit assignments, activations and terminations (Bell South, MCI, Sprint, AT&T. etc.).

  • Performs work in the field as a field technician to install customer premise equipment as needed.

  • Performs technical solutions and costing projections for projects.

  • May solicit market research for communications projects; reviews, and recommends selection of vendor proposals.

  • Performs premise work to complete the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, relocation modernization of all analog, digital voice systems and data systems. Perform testing and troubleshooting on sub-system equipment.

  • Perform daily/weekly preventative maintenance inspections and systems maintenance actions to ensure optimal delivery of services and longevity of system resources.

  • Monitors results against technical specifications.

  • Assists in developing and maintaining technical documentation.

  • Document, track and update any local tracking system of database system for the purpose of workload and metric reporting.

  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

  • Associate’s degree required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated Information Technology discipline preferred.

  • Licenses or Certifications Required:

  • Valid State driver’s license

  • DOD 8570 Information Awareness Technology Certification (e.g. CompTIA, A+, Network+ or Security+)

  • Other IT certifications are highly desired

  • Experience:

  • Eight (8) years' experience with Information Technology solutions relating to UC operations installation and maintenance.

  • Two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of college.

  • Other Requirements:

  • Working environment will be 85% indoors in an offices Local travel may be required.

  • The individual must also be willing to perform shift work, stand-by/after hours and weekend work.

  • Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge in UC telecommunications principles (e.g. VOIP, Call Manager, switching, traffic, signaling, and networking sub-systems)

  • Proficient knowledge on analog and digital TDM applications and uses.

  • Operational knowledge of AC and DC power systems use and maintenance.

  • Operational use of test equipment (e.g. telephone test sets, volt and ohmmeters)

  • General PC Skills, to include the ability to enter information via keyboard.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Current on the latest technological advances within the IT industry.

  • Working Environment:

  • The individual must be physically fit, able to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted, have correct color vision and dexterity.

  • Occasional prolong standing and or working on ladders is required.

  • Some work locations include non-environmentally controlled areas.

  • The individual must be able to reside at a desk working/troubleshooting UC related issues for extended periods of time.

  • Supervisory/Budget Responsibilities:

  • Individual will assist in the management and accountability of shop material to include bench stock, office supplies and tools and test equipment. Identify items needed for sustaining daily operations. Identify budgetary items for short and long term needs.
