Vectrus Fire Control & Optics Repairman in Kuwait

Overview

This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP

Under the supervision of Armament Systems, Lead and/or Armament Supervisor, performs a full range of field and sustainment maintenance (troubleshooting, repair, service and maintenance) of all armament related fire control systems and optical devices belonging to combat vehicles, infantry and on/off carriage artillery fire control systems and equipment and related test equipment.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Performs field maintenance on laser range finders, ballistic computers, laser observation devices, laser designators, thermal imaging systems, periscopes, telescopes, commander's weapon station/auxiliary sights, aiming circles, image transfer assemblies, quadrants, mount assemblies, fire control support equipment, and test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

  • Performs battlefield damage assessment and repair (BDAR).

  • Provides technical guidance on how to diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in fire control systems and related equipment at the field maintenance level.

  • Determines the nature and extent of repairs required; disassembles and examines parts and assemblies for serviceability; replaces parts and assemblies as required.

  • Determines serviceability of parts; exercises initiative to maintain productive progress and accepts responsibility for the results.

  • Safely uses common hand-tools and shop equipment effectively without assistance.

  • Diagnoses and determines remedies for failures commonly encountered in the repair of fire control equipment with little or no supervision, using a variety of diagnostic techniques and practices.

  • Assists other employees in the proper repair maintenance procedures and capabilities of related TMDE.

  • Account for bench stock items including and other sensitive items.

  • Performs QA/QC functions such as initial, in-process and final inspections in the absence of the Technical Inspector.

  • Maintains physical security, supply and maintenance management operations as it pertains to assigned equipment to include operator maintenance.

  • Accounts for and tracks recoverable items to ensure compliance with Exchange Pricing (EP)/recoverable items program.

  • Determines root causes of non-conformances, take corrective action and provides feedback on systemic problems.

  • Adheres to PWS and enforces standards within the work area.

  • Performs routine inspections on safety and environmental controls and provides reports on safety, quality, and armament related issues.

  • Property Custodian for Government Furnished Equipment and Army Installation property assigned to the section.

  • Key Control Custodian for the Fire Control Shop.

  • Prepares and present/submit reports and briefings to management or for external agencies as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Technical Certification as a Fire Control Equipment Repairman (MOS 45G) or Civilian Equivalent

  • DD214 required to validate prior military training

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid Secret Clearance

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License, is required.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of work-related technical experience required.

  • HAZMAT Handling/Transportation Training – desired

  • Skills:

  • Collaborative work style fostering cooperation and teamwork; must be able to work with people of diverse background.

  • Ability to communicate proficiently in English, both verbally and written; Must have effective communication, customer service, interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.

  • Possesses thorough knowledge of Armament related Fire Control Systems maintenance.

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS).

  • Ability to work effectively with employees and management of all levels to include multi-national staff, superiors, and ranking military officers; must be knowledgeable of/possesses the ability to identify the military rank structure.

  • Possesses ability to perform root cause analysis and prepare Corrective Actions Plans

  • Must be able to function effectively with little to no guidance.

  • Possesses excellent computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel).

  • Ability to handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion.

  • Ability to identify all variants of military arms and associated equipment

  • Must be knowledgeable of Physical Security Requirements for AA&E IAW ARs 190-11 and 190-13

  • Must be knowledgeable of Key and Lock Control procedures IAW AR 190-51

  • Must be knowledgeable of the supply control requirements of AA&E IAW AR 710-2 and DA Pam 710-2-1

  • Must possess a High-level organizational and planning skills to ensure workflow is managed efficiently and accurately.

  • Must possess excellent knowledge of HAZMAT control measures for Tritium, DU and other environmental hazards

  • Must possess excellent knowledge of Laser Safety and Eye Protection measures.

  • Ability to read, analyze, understand and interpret reports, wiring diagrams/schematics drawings, blueprints and documents.

  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical principles and concepts; Ability to operate electronic, electrical and mechanical test equipment.

  • Knowledge of operation, testing and maintenance of specific types of weapons systems.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
