Vectrus Heavy Equipment Lead in Kuwait
Overview
This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP
Under limited direction, performs work of moderate difficulty in leading crews in the operation of a variety of heavy construction equipment. Ensures personnel exhibit superior workmanship and focus upon a quality end product. Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and with a focus on quality. Direct oversight of Roads and Grounds shop personnel. Verifies actual hours worked by staff to reduce manpower expenditures. Ensures staff completes all tasks by the local Environmental, Safety and Health directives. Provides leadership and mentors junior staff to develop appropriate skill sets. Addresses customer concerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. Uses Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to correctly capture data related to maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance inspections, and emergency/urgent customer requests. Ensures personnel accurately capture data on maintenance work order requests and preventative maintenance inspection forms for upload into the Maximo database.

Provides leadership, guidance, and technical assistance to lower-level operators and related workers in the performance of their day-to-day activities
Directs and mentors’ workers in maintenance and repair of roads, pavements, driveways and walkways
Operates several types of power/heavy-construction equipment
Performs digging, leveling and grading operations; builds berms, grades roads, levels ground and other similar tasks using construction equipment
Operates heavy paving and surfacing equipment to lay, spread or compact concrete, asphalt and other surface materials during road construction
Aligns machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge markers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground, or position equipment following hand signals from other workers
Loads and moves dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials, using crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, and related equipment
Drives and maneuvers equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain
Coordinates machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members
Disseminates instructions workers and starts work by assigning the tasks to members of the group
Verifies work in progress and ensures that deadlines are being met
Conducts pre-operational checks, lubricates and refills fuel in equipment, ensures equipment is maintenance services are UpToDate
Records and reports all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, ensures equipment is properly dispatched at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications:
High School Diploma
Must be a U.S. Citizen
A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Heavy Driver’s License, is required.
Previously or currently certified/licensed to operate Kalmar (MHE) type equipment.
CDL License or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of six (6) Years operating construction equipment.
Military or defense contractor training and experience on U.S. Army supply systems preferred.
Must have two (2) years of experience operating a 10K forklift or larger as an equipment operator.
Skills:
Advanced understanding of earthmoving techniques
Good knowledge of equipment gauges, dials, or other indicators and the proper working characteristics of construction and related power equipment
Thorough knowledge of routine maintenance on assigned equipment and determining maintenance needs
Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of power construction equipment to exact positions
Able to obtain required operator license for assigned equipment
Working Conditions:
Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
Physical Requirements:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
