Vectrus Broadcast Technician Sr in Marshall Islands

Overview

This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

Under the general guidance of the Audio-Visual Manager and/or AV Support Tech Lead, the Broadcast Technician, Sr. will be responsible for setting up, installing, repairing, and monitoring equipment during radio and televisions programs. Control audio equipment to regulate the strength and clarity of the images and sounds seen on television and the sounds heard on the radio. The Technician Sr. will operate transmitters to broadcast radio and television programs from studios and remote locations.

Responsibilities

  • Works in close coordination between IT and MWR Management, and appropriate external agencies to create a comprehensive and professional Marketing & Media product for the community

  • Install and operate all equipment, such as audio mixing consoles, media control systems, oscilloscopes, frequency analyzers, and satellite receivers, used to broadcast radio and television programs

  • Performs regular tests to ensure optimum performance.

  • Quickly and effectively troubleshoot problems with transmissions

  • Conduct functional and operational testing procedures to ensure quality performance of broadcast products including radio and television programs

  • Work with engineers to test and integrate new systems.

  • Use computer software to edit audio and video recordings

  • Comply with FCC (Federal Communications Commission) regulations and state, federal, and local laws

  • Troubleshoots and repairs daily routine and emergency problems with audio and video broadcast equipment as they relate to transmission and production systems.

  • Installs complex broadcast systems and equipment according to specifications and standards.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • Two (2) year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Ability to obtain on post drivers license.

  • Must be CAC eligible and/or ability to obtain a CAC.

  • Experience:

  • The work experience must also demonstrate the knowledge and ability to provide technical recommendations regarding equipment purchasing and resource allocation.

  • Three (3) years of experience maintaining and installing broadcast, IT or other multimedia-based systems.

  • Must exhibit strong organization and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of broadcast system circuitry design/installation, as well as the ability to inspect, repair and maintain electrical equipment and facilities.

  • Skills

  • Must have excellent organizational skills; be highly skilled in written and verbal communications and able to deal tactfully and effectively with employees in all levels of the organization.

  • Manage and coordinate construction projects and oversee ongoing technical operations for the station's transmission network, as well as maintaining documentation in accordance with FCC regulations.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs daily routine and emergency problems with audio and video broadcast equipment as they relate to transmission and production systems.

  • Installs complex broadcast systems and equipment according to specifications and standards.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in various weather conditions (i.e., humidity, warm, sunny, rainy season). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies
