Vectrus Construction Supervisor in Marshall Islands

Overview

This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

Under supervision of the Construction Manager Sr., the Construction Supervisor is responsible for the planning and executing construction and special projects in the Marshall Islands. Supervises construction projects and manages personnel on various construction projects. Applies extensive knowledge of various trade disciplines to be used during construction, as well as the methods and techniques to be utilized for repair and installation.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Emphasizes, implements and maintains a safe workplace program and ensures safety is the highest priority on the job site.

  • Directs the overall planning of construction and repair activities to identify critical milestones and priorities.

  • Determines staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule of a project.

  • Ensures the services of the subcontractors and major construction equipment required by the project will be available at the appropriate time to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.

  • Manages the assignment of manpower, materials and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and to meet PWS requirements. Identify possible problem areas and recommend preventive action to ensure that critical milestones are met for each phase of the project.

  • Ensures the use of sound construction practices per international building codes to attain required final product quality with minimum cost.

  • Serves as the primary contact with the client representatives, subcontractors, and government representatives for construction-related activities.

  • Maintains strong client and community relations.

  • Participates in the recruiting and selection of candidate(s) for both fulltime and contract openings and follows all applicable Human Resources hiring practices.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with the position as directed by the Construction Manager Sr.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • Education/Certifications:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required.

  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must have valid US Passport.

  • Must be US citizen.

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction or a related field preferred

  • Experience:

  • 8 years of experience in field construction.

  • Experienced in minor new construction and facility repair in foreign locations is preferred.

  • Requires extensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices and international building codes.

  • Experience managing multiple projects at one time.

  • Skills:

  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills are also required, as well as a strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include, Word, Excel, Power Point and Projects.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages multi-site projects as well as assigns work assignment to site supervisors.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with varying conditions.

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
