Vectrus Fire Alarm Lead in Marshall Islands

Overview

This position will be physically located in The Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

Under the general direction of the Facilities Operations & Maintenance Manager, performs routine and emergency maintenance of electronic intrusion alarm systems and equipment, components, and subsystems, to include conductor splicing and terminating on associated systems. Performs major and minor installation and repairs to circuit boards, circuit breakers, transformers, filters, batteries, rectifiers, and associated components and accessories. Ensures routine and emergency maintenance on the fire alarm systems and peripheral equipment, components, and subsystems in the Area of Responsibility (AOR) are performed IAW NFPA 72 and UFC3-600-01, as well as other model building codes as directed. Reviews the inspections, testing, and repair of fire alarm control panels, initiating, indicating, and monitoring devices. Ensures testing, and maintenance on fire suppression systems consisting of wet pipe sprinkler, pre-action sprinkler, FM200 clean agent systems, fire pumps, and associated equipment are performed IAW NFPA 25, NFPA 2001 and UFC 3-601-02, as well as other model building codes as directed. Performs work in secure, critical, and sensitive designed areas under control of the U.S. Army in accordance with contract requirements.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Provides direction in the accomplishment of the maintenance and repair of systems associated with fire detection, suppression and other equipment that is a component part of the overall fire protection system

  • Performs inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems IAW UFC 3-601-02 using NFPA 72 and NFPA 25 as guidelines, as well as other model building codes as directed.

  • Utilizes test equipment and meters such as voltmeters, ammeters, telephone test sets, smoke detector sensitivity testers, and wire tracing equipment, and others for locating and diagnosing equipment, distribution, and control system malfunctions.

  • Utilizes computer software to program fire alarm control panels and perform load calculations for installed systems

  • Utilizes various hand tools, shop tools, and equipment in accomplishing repairs and maintenance of these systems and components.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs fire protection circuits and equipment. Repairs or replaces defective components.

  • Requests and maintains accountability for parts, tools, equipment and materials required for work performance and work assignments.

  • May be required to conduct both routine and emergency services after normal work hours.

  • Performs the majority of work in a sensitive and secure areas of military installations

  • Responsible for safe operation, cleanliness and operator maintenance of assigned vehicle.

  • Prepares and completes work documents.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.

  • Requires five (5) years with an organized Fire or Emergency Service Department. Minimum of 5 years of fire detection and signaling systems experience, which MUST include: At least 33 months of fire alarm systems experience, including installation, maintenance, inspection, testing.

  • Must have a valid National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certification.

  • Must have sufficient knowledge of English to understand technical instructions and documents and accomplish work from these documents.

  • MIRCOM PRO 2000, VESDA, and Chemetron Suppression Systems factory training (or equivalent) desired.

  • Excellent organization and communications skills, both written and verbal, are required.

  • Must be computer literate in all aspects of Microsoft Office.

  • Must be able to provide and evaluate documents detailing deficiencies and corrective action

  • May be required to formulate project timelines.

  • Program Specific Requirements:

  • Extensive Fire Fighting and Emergency Service Experience. (5 Years)

  • Must be able to supervise and manage the activities of multi-national and culturally diverse work force.

  • Possess knowledge of safety and environmental issues

  • Working Environment

  • In this position there is exposure to physical and working conditions where serious accidents or injuries may occur, exposure to disagreeable noise elements and prolonged high ambient temperatures. Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines, tools and equipment which includes a motor vehicle, computer, generator, fire pump, fire hydrant, axe, shovel, hydraulic tools, power tools, hand tools, medical equipment, etc. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those very heavy work. The candidate must be able to be certified by an M.D. to meet the medical conditions in the latest edition of NFPA 1582.

  • Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations.

  • PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
