Vectrus Movement Control Manager in Marshall Islands

Overview

This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

Manages employees on Movement Control Teams and Cargo and Container Management Teams. Reports to the Project and/or Site Manager. Supervise all aspects of Movement Control to include, but not limited to, Air (A/DACG), Ground (Line haul & Convoys), Rail, Port and Container Management. Manages applicable DOD Movement program. The movement program is used to preplan anticipated transportation requirements for movement and flow of units, personnel, materiel, and sustainment supplies. Participates in technological developments, i.e. equipment, facilities, safety. Conduct studies, analyzes problems and programs and proposes solutions.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Responsible for scheduling and selecting the modes of transportation for personnel and equipment.

  • Organize, plan and oversee the movement of those vehicles, personnel and cargo worldwide.

  • Provides continued transportation coordination and shipment status visibility for all inbound and outbound assets, to include, but not limited to: coordination, planning, and arranging transportation services through commercial and Government agencies for in-country line haul of LOGCAP assets.

  • Uses the in-transit visibility system to track inbound containerized LOGCAP assets.

  • Mark, label cargo and freight shipments in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Document and inventory freight, cargo and materiel shipments of all types.

  • Perform system administrator duties such as installing software and uploading data to computer systems.

  • Prepare equipment, cargo and personnel for travel to airports, seaports and railways.

  • Request and coordinate transportation to meet a movement mission

  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Required to have expertise in logistic and transportation functional areas.

  • Experience:

  • 5 to 7 years of directly related Movement Control experience

  • Must have experience in Supply Management and Transportation Movement Control (TMC).

  • Must know the procedures for planning and program transportation management; will be required to have expertise in logistic and transportation functional areas.

  • Must know how to coordinate, monitor, control, and supervise movement personnel, equipment, and cargo by air, rail, highway, and water.

  • Must be able to perform a variety of clerical duties associated with logistics of freight and cargo movement.

  • Must always have knowledge of asset visibility of inbound and outbound assets, using Transportation Control Numbers (TCN) and other methods.

  • Skills:

  • Must know how to coordinate, monitor, control, and supervise movement personnel, equipment, and cargo by air, rail, highway, and water.

  • Must be able to perform a variety of clerical duties associated with logistics of freight and cargo movement.

  • Must always have knowledge of asset visibility of inbound and outbound assets, using Transportation Control Numbers (TCN).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of safety procedures

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees on Movement Control Teams and Cargo and Container Management Teams.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Medium and up to Heavy work. Exerting up to 50 pounds to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
