Overview
This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP
The Principal, under the direction of the Superintendent or designee, plans, develops and implements the policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures pertaining to the district educational programs. This position will oversee the collaborative development of a School Improvement Plan (SIP) and subsequent monitoring and adjustment of the plan in order to improve overall student achievement. The Principal is responsible for the overall supervision of the school campus including teacher’s instructional practices, classroom management and discipline to ensure safe classroom environments. The Principal must exhibit exceptional abilities in communications, human relations, and instructional leadership. The Principal must also display enthusiasm, dedication, integrity, and a commitment to all students.

Create a school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of learning and teaching for students and staff:
Develop and sustain focus on a shared mission and clear vision for improvement of learning and teaching

Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a data-driven plan for increasing student achievement, including the use of multiple student data elements:
Recognize and seek out multiple data sources
Analyze and interpret multiple data sources to inform school-level improvement efforts
Implement data-driven plans for improved teaching and learning
Assist staff to use data to guide, modify and improve classroom teaching and student learning
Provide evidence of student growth that results from the school improvement planning process
Assist instructional staff with alignment of curriculum, instruction and assessment with state and local district learning goals:
Assist staff in aligning curricula to USAG-KA learning goals
Assist staff in aligning best instructional practices to USAG-KA learning goals
Assist staff in aligning assessment practices to best instructional practices
Monitor, assist and evaluate effective instruction and assessment practices:
Monitor instruction and assessment practices
Assist staff in developing required student growth plan and identifying valid, reliable sources of evidence of effectiveness
Assist staff in implementing effective instruction and assessment practices
Evaluate staff in effective instruction and assessment practices
Provide evidence of student growth of selected teachers
Manage both staff and fiscal resources to support student achievement and legal responsibilities:
Manage human resources (assignment, hiring)
Manage human resources (ongoing professional development)
Manage fiscal resources as directed
Fulfilling legal responsibilities
Partner with the school community to promote student learning:
Communicate with the community to promote learning
Partner with families and school communities
Demonstrate commitment to closing the achievement gap:
Identify barriers to achievement and know how to close resulting gaps
Demonstrate a commitment to close the achievement gap
Provide evidence of student growth in learning
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
Principal and Teacher Certification from one of 50 states or DoDEA
Master’s Degree or higher
Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Child Care National Agency Check (CNACI) clearance requiring US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Experience:
Thirty-six (36) months of professional experience in managing at school building level. This experience includes the following: experience working with regulatory, personnel, funding, and budgeting proponents.
Knowledge of management analysis, personnel development of K-12 programs
Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.
Skills:
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledgeable of how to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Must be able to read, write and speak the English language with proficiency.
Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork.
Must exercise discretion and good sound judgment.
Must have high level of proficiency in the use of MS Office and/or other related applications.
Knowledge of Maximo preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directing the school building and campus
Working Conditions:
Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
Physical Requirements:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
