Vectrus Water Treatment Plant Supervisor Sr in Marshall Islands

Overview

This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

Under the supervision of the Water Production/Distribution Manager, the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor, SR is responsible for the planning, operations, management, distribution, and daily supervision of the potable and non-potable water distribution and storm drain collection systems activities on the LOGCAP contract. Works on water piping repair solutions exercising independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining LOGCAP Program. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the potable and non-potable water piping distribution, maintenance, repair, and new installation activities on the program. The Water Treatment Plant Supervisor, SR has the responsibility and authority of the potable and non-potable related activities on the assigned contract.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Supervises water treatment plant employees and actively participates in the operation, preventative maintenance, repairs to the small conventional rapid sand filters and reverse osmosis systems at three water plants on Kwajalein, Roi- Namur, and Meck through a hands-on management style under minimal supervision.

  • Collects water samples and performs routine total chlorine, turbidity, pH, and bacteria analysis. Correctly adjusts instruments in response to changing water quality parameters.

  • Ensures preventative maintenance and repairs are performed on schedule and to industry standards to water plant equipment including, but not limited to pumps, valves, chemical injection pumps, analytical equipment, compressors, and other plant equipment.

  • Works on water production related solutions exercising independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining LOGCAP Program results in concert with and at the direction of the Public Works Director.

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the potable and non-potable water production activities on the program.

  • Manages labor and oversees ordering parts, tools, material, and equipment as necessary for an annual budget.

  • Reviews daily operations records and submits reports pertaining to compliance of water treatment systems to Management using Word and Excel.

  • Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance program in the water treatment plant.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must possess a Level 4 Water Treatment Operator License.

  • Five (5) years of experience as a Water Treatment Plant Operator and mechanical knowledge and skills to oversee and direct the repair of plant equipment.

  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a biology or chemistry related engineering or technical field preferred.

  • Experience:

  • Seven (7) years related experience in water treatment plant operations.

  • Three (3) years supervisory experience in the management of personnel.

  • Previous reverse osmosis operations and maintenance experience is a plus.

  • Previous experience in a contingency environment is a plus.

  • Mechanical knowledge and the skills to repair plant equipment preferred

  • Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluently.

  • Able and willing to perform other duties as needed, as skills and program allow.

  • Experience with municipal Water Treatment, as well as some knowledge of Water Distribution systems is required.

  • Previous experience in a contingency environment is a plus.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level.

  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals

  • The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions. No effective protection from the weather.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
